古くから伝わる「椿一輪生」という特別ないけ方です。花一輪と葉三枚半という極めて少ない数でいける生花です。そもそも生花の特徴は省略の美ですが、その省略の極地と言えるでしょう。静かな中にも椿の大木を想起させるような力強さを感じさせることが肝要です。

たくさんの椿の中から適切な場所に葉と花がついている物を選び抜きます。そのため、ごく小さな少ない数でいける生花ながら、大量の椿を用意する必要があります。実に贅沢な遊びです。

This is a special Shoka called “Tsubaki Ichirin Ike,” passed down for a long time. It uses only one camellia flower and three and a half leaves. It is a very simple style of Shoka. Shoka is known for its beauty of simplicity, and this style shows the highest level of that idea. Even in its quiet atmosphere, it should feel strong, like a big camellia tree.

To make it, you carefully choose one camellia with the right flower and leaf positions from many flowers. So even though the arrangement uses only a few parts, you need to prepare many camellias. It is a very luxurious art.
